Pawn Shop Idiots

WARNING: This video contains harsh language and is a ridiculous example of what’s wrong with television and the people who crave reality TV. Thank God this is not exemplary of the real pawnbroking industry.

Leave it to Hollywood and these three Las Vegas prostitutes to reinforce every gratuitous negative stereotype of the most civilized form of short-term consumer credit. Fortunately, for every pawnshop operation such as this embellished for prime-time farce, there are dozens of modern family-friendly pawn shop professionals who serve their customers with dignity and run their businesses in a respectable manner. Reality TV has nothing to do with reality. Steve Krupnik

I HAVE BEEN TO THE GOLD AND SILVER PAWN SHOP IN LAS VEGAS AND IT IS PROBABLY BEST PAWNSHOP I HAVE EVER BEEN IN .I GO TO LAS VEGAS AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR AND STOP BY THEIR SHOP EVERY TIME I’M IN VEGAS. BEFORE YOU VILIFY A PERSON OR PERSONS YOU MIGHT DO A LITTLE MORE RESEARCH THAN WATCH A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE. i KNOW THAT THE HARRISONS HAVE DONE AT LEAST TO DOCUMENTARIES
ON PAWNSHOPS ONE FOR PBS AND ONE FOR HBO AND ARE FEATURED ON NATIONWIDE NEWS PROGRAMS A FEW TIMES A YEAR . A FEW YEARS AGO THEY HAD RUNNING VIDEO SET UP IN THERE SHOP WHERE IT SHOWED ALL THE DIFFERENT NEWS PROGRAMS THEY WERE IN IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES (THERE WERE IN ABOUT 10 DIFFERENT LANGUAGES). ONE LAST THING DO YOU REALY THINK IT IS A GOOD BUSINESS DECISION TO MAKE A ENEMY OUT WHAT WILL PROBABLY THE MOST FAMOUS AND SUCCESSFUL PAWN SHOP IN THE COUNTRY ONCE THERE SHOW IS ON TV

I am certainly not villifying the Harrisons. I wish them well. I do believe the show will speak for itself though by reenforcing many of the false and negative misconceptions the borrowing public has of the pawnbroking industry. That’s alright though. The industry has been doing this sort of “damage control” for centuries. I stand by my comments Dave. Thank you for yours.
